Minimum configuration to start your YateBTS

From YateBTS
Jump to: navigation, search

As an absolute minimum, you must configure the radio frequency and the output power in ybts.conf:

where BBB is the radio band (850, 900, 1800 or 1900) and NNN is the ARFCN of the first channel.

Important note: Make sure you have the right to use the radio frequency you selected. Please do not break your local law.

Example for 1800 DCS:

Run a spectrum survey with a spectrum analyzer to find a gap in the spectrum for downlink 1805-1880 and uplink 1710-1785. You must find pairs that are open in both downlink and uplink which are 95MHz apart. It is better to operate below ARFCN 786(downlink 1860 MHz).

Example with a mobile spectrum analyzer:

Freq Span

Set Start - lower limit

Set Stop - upper limit

Peak Hold - use it for a couple of minutes to find gaps (Downlink freq)

A minimum configuration of this type will use the default identity MCC=001 MNC=01 LAC=1000 (0x3e8) CI=10 (0x000a). Most phones will identify it as Test or Test PLMN.

Below is an example for channel 50 of GSM900 (900MHz uplink, 945MHz downlink):
