Enable LTE enb mode

1. When you first enter the Local Management Interface (LMI), you are required to select the appropriate working mode. Click the Modify button to choose LTE enb.

2. Select the LTE enb working mode and click the Save button.

3. Click the ENB Configuration tab. In the Radio - eNodeB section you must set up the following parameters:

  • the eNodeB ID - it must be a 20 bits unique ID, whose value is concatenated with the PLMN ID to create a 44-bit global eNodeB identity. You may use any 20 bits number, but if you have multiple LabKits, it should be different on each one.
  • the Mobile Country Code (MCC): the typical value is 001, for a test network, but it can be something else, depending on your use of the LabKit.
  • the Mobile Network Code (MNC), for example: 01 for a test network. Any two-digit number is valid.
  • the Tracking Area Code (TAC). Any 4-digit number works.
  • the Cell Identity, 7 digits in length, for example: 0000001. The number is arbitrary.
  • the Name: human readable and optional.
  • the LTE Band - in order to avoid local interference and using one of the two filters:
    • choose Band 8 (Americas) if you are in Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa or Oceania
    • choose Band 5 (typical for the rest of the World) if you are in the Americas.
  • the Bandwidth: for LTE Band 5 and Band 8 it should be 25.
  • the EARFCN (Downlink EARFCN), which must be compatible to the selected band. For the two bands provided with filters, downlink EARFCN ranges are:
    • 3450...3799 for LTE Band 8
    • 2400...2649 for LTE Band 5.

Note: Choose a value in the middle of the range. The Channel Bandwidth you’ve set might take you out of the range if the EARFCN is at the lower or upper limit and you will end up with a non-working configuration. Note 2: The LabKit will set the uplink EARFCN automatically.

  • the NID1 (Network Identity 1), with a value between 1 and 167. The number is arbitrary, but if you have more LabKits, it should differ among them.
  • the NID2 (Network Identity 2), with a value between: 0, 1 or 2. It can be any of these.

Connect EnodeB to HostedCore

Settings of the photos below will connect your YateENB to Hosted Core

IP addresses starting with 100.127. are OpenVPN private addresses. Your LTE LabKit is already connected to Hosted Core and with these settings you will use Hosted Core as MME.

Be aware that your LTE LabKit OpenVPN IP address won't be, pick up from each drop-down your assigned IP address.
