YateUCN, the unified core network, and YateHSS/HLR are a Linux applications running on commodity off-the-shelf servers. It implements the functions and protocols for both the GSM/GPRS and the LTE networks.

Roaming from 4G LTE to 2G/3G networks over SS7 MAP with YateHSS/HLR

If a subscriber's home network is an LTE one, he is served by an HSS. When roaming, he will normally register to an LTE visited network, via a Diameter agreement between the two operators. In most cases, operators have only established SS7 agreements. YateHSS/HLR supports both Diameter and SS7 MAP, so subscribers can easily roam in a 2G/3G visited network, registering to the home YateHSS/HLR over an SS7 roaming agreement.

YateHSS/HLR for roaming between mobile and WiFi networks

YateHSS/HLR can be deployed in WiFi networks. MVNOs can offload subscribers from the 2G/3G/4G mobile network to the WiFi network. Our complete solution consists of using YateUCN together with YateHSS/HLR. Thus, MVNOs can manage their subscribers in whichever network they are using - 2G, 4G or WiFi.

Cable operators

YateUCN unified core network is a solution for MVNO cable operators

Rolling out small, private WiFi networks is not enough for most cable operators. If they want to stay in the competition and provide a mix of media services, voice, and data, they need access to the mobile network capabilities by associating with an MNO.

YateHSS/HLR for cable operators

In a network using the YateUCN core and the YateHSS/HLR, acting as a typical Home Subscriber Server/Home Location Register with an integrated AuC, SIM authentication is performed between the device and the Access Point, enabling the subscriber a one-time registration to the network using the IMSI stored in their SIM and the secure encryption key Ki.

YateHSS/HLR and YateUCN support EAP-SIM/EAP-AKA authentication specified in the IETF standard for WiFi inter-working, securing the connection on both user and network ends. To find out more, please check our Cable operators becoming MVNO: a win-win scenario blog post.

Core network redundancy

New YateHSS/HLR nodes automatically synchronizes to manage the same data in the network

YateHSS/HLR does automatic synchronization of new nodes - meaning if a new YateHSS/HLR server is added to the network, data existing in that cluster is also updated in the new node. The operator does not do that manually.

YateHSS/HLR is a flexible alternative for MNOs, MVNOs and cable operators

The YateHSS/HLR has a capacity of 100,000 subscribers. The YateHSS/HLR locates subscribers in multiple networks (MSC, SGSN, MME, ISCSCF) to allocate required services (voice, data).

Diameter charging

YateUCN billing integration with online/offline charging and custom Diameter applications

MVNOs wishing to offer subscribers high quality voice and/or data services can use YateUCN as a GMSC (voice), a GGSN (GPRS), or a PGW (LTE data). YateUCN supports billing integration through CAMEL, RADIUS, and Diameter.
